The wait is over, Little Monsters. Lady Gaga has finally released her highly-anticipated seventh studio album MAYHEM and is bringing fans into her chaotic new era.

Mother Monster dropped her latest project on Friday (March 7), exploring her "personal chaos" through a 14-track project that includes collaborations with Bruno Mars and French DJ Gesaffelstein. This is Gaga's first album since 2020's Chromatica and her Joker: Folie à Deux companion soundtrack album Harlequin that came out in September 2024.

Fans got their first taste of MAYHEM, also known as LG7, with her Grammy-winning track with Mars in "Die with a Smile" before dropping two additional singles, "Disease" and "Abracadabra." The "Born This Way" singer previously opened up about how her fiancé Michael Polansky also played a role in the new album.

Speaking to Billboard in an interview published Thursday, Gaga said the inspiration behind the album was her desire to bring "chaos" to pop music while staying authentic to herself.

"There have been times in my career where I had an idea in terms of how to conceptually approach a record. But I would say that this album, from start to finish, was like pieces coming together," she said. "I did not want to turn it into anything artificial, I really wanted to allow myself to just follow the music. By doing that, it started to slowly remind me of my earlier work."

In an interview with Good Morning America on Friday, Gaga revealed where the album's title came from, explaining how her "personal mayhem" of "playing multiple different people" throughout her career and the "duality" of that coincided with her view of the "chaotic" world.

"I try to use my artistry and my lyrics and songwriting to create something that was indicative of personal chaos but also how we can still celebrate and dance through it while that's happening," she said.

Gaga also shared how she sees this new chapter of her career after conquering her "fear" of returning to pop music.

"I think that I am feeling really confident in myself as a musician and as a songwriter and a producer, as an artist," she said. "I know that might sound silly, but it actually took me two decades to become the boss, in a way. Like being a woman in music, I was almost always the only woman in the room all the time, and I had to really, really work hard to maintain my sense of stability and my purpose. And I always stuck to my guns when it came to my music and my artistry, but it was a real challenge and I made it through that mayhem."
