Nikki Glaser is sharing all the behind-the-scenes excitement that led to her Golden Globes hosting debut.
In the January 6 episode of The Nikki Glaser Podcast, the comedian gave listeners a peek behind the curtain of putting together a successful awards show. Speaking with her writing team Brian Frange and Sean O'Connor as well as her boyfriend and producer Chris Convy, the group reflected on the positive response to Glaser's hilarious opening monologue at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, noting how no one was spared and that there were "jokes in there for everybody."
"We didn't do that piece because we were like trying to be middle of the road and play both sides," Glaser said. "We felt the zeitgeist right now, which would literally change by the hour based on like if they knew who Luigi Mangione was, if they were worried about Trump, like if the vibe in the air was, you know, like it was changing every day. But we just nailed the tone and so no one felt we were skewering them because we weren't. It was like it was about skewering the idea of things more. It wasn't like... no one got scorched either."
As for the show overall, Glaser said it was better than she could have dreamed.
"It went extraordinarily well. All of the hard work, all of the running around doing sets, all of the writing, all of the just thought that went behind it totally paid off," she said. "It's a testament to like, when you know something so well, you can just get up there and have fun and do it. We had a blast doing it all around. But it like truly exceeded expectations."
On The Nikki Glaser Podcast, Glaser gives her "brutally honest" opinions on hot topics in pop culture while also giving fans a look into her own personal life with her famous brand of humor.
